Artist's Description

"Carnaby Street"

A digital soft pastel painting of Carnaby Street, the London England place to be for all things fashion since the 1960s (which unfortunately is the last time I was there... and yes, I was just a kid, don't even go there). Known for its mod boutiques, Mary Quant was among the designers whose fashion was the thing to wear back in those days, especially if you were going to pop into the Marquee Club to catch the Small Faces or the Rolling Stones (can you imagine seeing this kind of talent at your local club?). Carnaby Street is still a hot fashion hub to this day. I used psychedelic colors, a mod aesthetic, and just a little bit of modern-day flavor for my portrait of a fashionable girl enjoying the bustling iconic city street. Please visit my Fashion, Textiles and Jewelry art gallery to see more of my fashion artwork, and my Portraiture art gallery to see more of my portrait paintings.

Though my artwork over the past 40 years has evolved from my early days of shooting on film to manifesting itself in many different forms of more contemporary media, from the delicate transparency of digital watercolor, to the no-holds-barred starkness of noir digital photography, to even the fanciful abstract-turned-conceptual properties...
