A pop art digital oil painting on canvas loosely based on a portrait photograph of a geisha (or "geiko" in Japanese), in vivid hues of gold, orange, blue, red and purple on a canvas texture. Geisha are vitally important to traditional Japanese culture, and all the women who pursue this quickly fading profession study hard for several years to become consummate performing artists. Contrary to popular belief, Geisha were never "ladies of the evening," they seduce their guests only with engaging conversation and mastery of song and dance. In fact, a geisha who dared to venture into such pursuits risked seeing the closure of the entire tea house in which she was employed; such unacceptable behavior unbecoming of these highly esteemed young women simply would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
