"La Ballerina Redux"

A watercolor painting on a cold press rag paper canvas, based on the monochrome pen and ink illustration "La Ballerina" by 19th century British artist Aubrey Beardsley, my favorite illustrator since my teenage years (which is longer ago than I care to contemplate). My remix of Beardsley's work includes feminine floral elements in a colorful palette of transparent aqua, purple, green, orange and yellow hues, with a very sheer wash in blue and lavender.
