Description
"Monstera Leaves"
An abstract impressionist digital oil painting on canvas of the leaves of the Monstera deliciosa, commonly referred to as simply Monstera, or Swiss Cheese Plant (not to be confused with the similar philodendron of the same name) because new leaves have holes in them until they fully develop, resembling the pattern of Swiss cheese. The name is not a misnomer, these vining houseplants get monstrously huge, reaching 66 feet high with leaves 3 feet wide in their native tropical forest habitat, and can even grow 30 feet high when grown as indoor plants. Demand for these plants has grown tremendously in recent years, with prices of some varieties of a single leaf for propagation reaching hundreds of dollars, which is unsurprising because you'll need a huge house to grow one of these suckers to maturity!
