Description
"Red-Winged Blackbird Fledgling"
A close-up photograph of a newly fledged red-winged blackbird perched in an evergreen tree outside my window in Chester County Pennsylvania. Despite still being fairly downy and not even having a full set of tail feathers yet, this little guy explored every inch of my garden. Quite the adventurer! Red-wings are the most common bird in North America, and some flocks contain more than a million birds! How on earth do you count them? I can't even keep track of the number of my dogs (though I'm pretty sure it's currently three... that could change tomorrow). Please visit my Avian Flights of Fancy art gallery to see more of my bird artwork.
