Description
"The Kinks - Lola Lyrical Cloud"
A word cloud in hues of teal, touquoise blue and green on a white transparent background, comprised of the most pertinent words appearing in the lyrics of British band The Kink's classic rock masterpiece "Lola." This iconic hit song released in 1970 and describing a man's interlude with one whom may or may not be a transvestite, was dubbed by Creem (remember Creem??) magazine as the first "gay rock ballad." Despite its controversial topic for the times, the song surprisingly caused more controversy for its use of the brand name "Coca-Cola" than it did for its actual subject matter due to Britain's strict laws on product placement, and the term was replaced with "cherry cola" in the single release. The Kinks have beaten the odds against rock and roll longevity, and have an album in the pipeline for a planned 2020 release.
