Susan Maxwell Schmidt is a fine art photographer and digital artist residing in East Nottingham, located in beautiful rural Chester County, PA. Her preferred mediums and genres, most with a surrealist undercurrent, include scenic landscape photography; hand drawn digital works; digitally painted photographs; intricately detailed conceptual and abstract fractal art; and noir black and white photography. Also an established professional jewelry artist, Susan Maxwell Schmidt is well-known for her internationally-collected, one-of-a-kind upscale hair jewelry designs, which can be found at the online boutique listed below.

Ms. Schmidt's visual art has appeared in SLAM Magazine, Garden Tripod and Best of Creatocracy, and graces the cover of British group River City Portrait's digital single Paralysed. In late 2015, Ms. Schmidt was chosen as the best artist to represent Pennsylvania in 50 States of Art 2015.

My mind lives in a rather strange world of its own, in a state which I tend to refer to as "delightfully twisted." Through my art, which I am vehemently determined to continue to create with as little outside influence as possible (not the least of which includes whatever drives the art market at any given moment), I work to interpret the concepts my mind creates in a moment-by moment barrage of ideas. Though my work manifests itself in many different ways, from the delicate transparency of vibrant digital watercolor, to the no-holds-barred starkness of noir photography, to even the fanciful abstract-turned-conceptual properties of my fractal art, the undercurrent that binds them all is my love of surrealism. I prefer the worlds my mind creates to the one in which I live, and though I create all my art to please myself as a rule, nothing thrills me more than when it speaks to someone else as it does me.
