Artist's Description

"Spring in the City"

A Japanese cherry tree blooms at the curb in the early morning light of New York City, in this digital painting created from my original photograph from the perspective of a doorway alcove. This is a new painting technique with which I am experimenting, and call "crazing." For this image I desaturated the majority of my photograph, leaving only the colors of pink, maroon and purple of the trees and blooming azalea, and then added a slight green cast to my desaturated grays and some additional deep maroon accents in the process of creating the digital art piece.

This artwork is available in a variety of framed and unframed gallery-quality giclee prints, home decor items such as velvety soft duvet covers, fabric shower curtains, and square and rectangular decorative throw pillows, as well as greeting cards and tote bags.

Though my artwork over the past 40 years has evolved from my early days of shooting on film to manifesting itself in many different forms of more contemporary media, from the delicate transparency of digital watercolor, to the no-holds-barred starkness of noir digital photography, to even the fanciful abstract-turned-conceptual properties...
