A photograph of my African violet 'Sunset Kiss,' blooming prolifically with double mroon red flowers. In addition to the stunning color, another unusual aspect of this violet is that its flowers tower over the plant, often reaching over 6 inches in height! Despite long being a symbolism of motherhood, something I spent my life avoiding at all costs, I adore African violets and this is one of my favorites in my extensive collection. I took the photograph with my favorite vintage f/1.4 prime lens, which provides for a very short focal distance and lots of luscious bokeh.
