Artist's Description

"Crystal Aurora Borealis"

A digital watercolor mandala made to resemble a faceted lead crystal bead coated with the famous finish Swarovski, the Austrian company known for the manufacture of the most exceptional crystal in the world, developed in the 1950s, known as Aurora Borealis. Having been a professional jewelry artist for 17+ years, I am intimately familiar with all things Swarovski and nothing is more beautiful than this finish, which flashes vibrant purples, greens and blues, very much like its namesake Northern Lights itself. I used a color palette of violet purple, aqua blue, turquoise and plum on a cold press paper texture for my representation of these beautiful stones. Please visit my Fantastical Abstracts art gallery to see more of my contemporary artwork.

My mind lives in a rather strange world of its own, in a state which I tend to refer to as "delightfully twisted." Through my art, which I am vehemently determined to continue to create with as little outside influence as possible, I work tirelessly to interpret the concepts my mind creates in a moment-by-moment barrage of ideas that always seem to come faster than I can realize them in a tangible form. Though my artwork over the past 40 years has evolved from my early days of shooting on film to manifesting itself in many different forms of more contemporary media, from the delicate transparency of digital watercolor, to the no-holds-barred starkness of noir digital photography, to even the fanciful abstract-turned-conceptual properties...
